Our Story

Established in 2004, we instantly blew away any myth about location having to be linked with being a “greasy spoon”. Nothing could be further from the truth.

The Name “Breaktimes” was determined almost immediately upon conception to relate to that in which the establishment was originally intended for… a place for nearby workers to visit, relax and refuel on their break before returning to work. Little did we know that our captive audience would extend further than that.

We started our journey primarily as a breakfast café and from the very outset strived to be the very best at doing so.

In 2011 our son Connor left school at 16 years of age to join us on our journey to what you now see today. We passed on the responsibility of running our busy kitchen to him and even though he was of a young age it was a decision we have never looked back on. Connor has continued running our busy kitchen now for nearly 10 years and together with his team continue to strive making Breaktimes the very best it can be.

Year upon year our customer base grew and we are regularly visited by not just locals, but from people all over the UK and beyond. The main reason for this is that we always put our customers first. We never take our customers for granted - a fact which we never forget.

Before long we were beginning to out grow our small establishment. Prior to 2019 we were only situated in the righthand side of the building (unit 17a) at only 750 sq.ft. in size and was proving difficult to keep up with growing demand. Something had to be done.

We were given the opportunity to expand into the building next door (unit 17) and after careful consideration made the decision to undertake the project of expanding, turning a small 750 sq.ft. 30 seater cafe into a 2000 sq.ft. 80+ seater eatery.

We began planning the extension mid to late 2018. After six months of works we were ready to open the extension to what you now see today joining 2 buildings to create one.

Our establishment and facilities are as high as you will find anywhere, equaled only by our level of service and the quality of our food. We are extremely proud of who we are, where we are and what we have to offer.

One final point - we have no passing trade. All of our customers have to either drive or walk to us. We are a destination café. In short, we don’t just claim to be the very best at what we do, we instead strive to maintain this very fact everyday.
